Top Half
9:58 - Scutaro gives it a ride but Swisher is there for the out on the warning track. A sketchy start for Gaudin, but out number one nonetheless. Way too use two hands on that one, Nick.
10:01 - A circus play on the Ortiz grounder. Cano floats a tough spinning throw over Tex and it rolls past a the diving try of Cervelli (backing up on the play) all the way to the backstop. Amazingly, Ortiz doesn't see what's going on and fails to advance to second, despite the cries of his teammates from the dugout.
10:04 - The kid doing the "Let's Go Yankees, Here We Go" chant in the left side field box needs to stop. It's been going on for a solid three minutes. Enough is enough dude.
10:05 - And now some other guy has taken up the chant to replace the kid. Thanks dude. Way too encourage him.
10:07 - Cano with an awkward angle snag of the Beltre flair to end the inning. I suppose that makes up for the high throw. What am I saying? That was a hard play, and Robby is a baller anyways. Rock on, Can-Can.
Here comes Pap-a-Lap. Three outs to go...
Bottom Half
10:11 - Posada pinch hits for Cervelli and dribbles one to Lowell. Mikey nearly flips it over Papelbon's head, but Jonathan keeps his cool and steps on the bag. Two outs remaining.
10:14 - A tap out to Lowrie by Brett "The Hitman" Gardener for out number two. He almost beat it out, too. The captain will be the last hope in this one.
10:16 - Some lady starts the "Boston Sucks" chant behind home plate. C'mon, chica, don't give Yankee fans a bad name with that sour loser business. I hate that kind of stuff, man. Fo' realz.
10:19 - Jeter's makin' Papelbon earn his paycheck here. Fouls off four straight fastballs. 10th pitch of the AB on the way.
10:20 - And yet another one fought off by Derek. Try it again with number 11.
10:20 (A) - Nope. Twelfth time for money.
10:21 - Oooooooo...that was strike three. Not so says home plate umpire Bruce Dreckman. Jeter's resilience is rewarded with a twelve-pitch walk. No lie, that should have been game over. I think the fact that Martinez was set up inside and had to reach towards the outside corner just a bit influenced the call in the shortstop's favor. Good things come to those who foul off a ton of balls.
10:26 - And there she be, folks. Swish flies out to Kalish to end the game. Papelbon battles valiantly and gets the save. A tough loss. I guess I really am a good luck charm for these Boston bats. Se la vi
